With the scent of stimulus in the air, CHIA Vic will begin running a series of short, free and interactive online sessions aimed at assisting the community housing sector think, learn and discuss issues, new techniques and ideas that can assist with growth.
A range of members, academics and professionals will present on topics, including new building techniques, planning, and innovative back office systems and processes before opening the conversation to hear your experiences and questions.
Our first session, Deconstructing Demountables, on Thursday, October 1 at 1 – 2pm, will feature Launch Housing’s Development Manager Vere Longmore who will talk about their experience of utilising demountables to rapidly house people who were at risk of homelessness and Paul Floreni from LivinModular.
Vere will talk about Launch’s Harris Transportable Housing Project, which saw 48 prefabricated units placed on seven sites in Footscray that have been leased from VicRoads for 10 years, including how the project began, planning and site considerations, construction methodology and tenant experience.
Paul will give an overview of monolithic modular design and construction, and why the tide is changing towards modular.
