Difficulties with Gambling

26 October @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

- $250 – $270

Whilst many people enjoy an occasional flutter on the horses, or will put a coin in a pokie machine, for some, the habit becomes a serious problem that, in the words of DSM5 “disrupts personal, family and/or vocational pursuits.”  In other words, it can take over a person’s entire life.

The Gambling course will include the following:

  • How does Gambling get such a grip on people?
  • Why does Australia have the highest rate of gambling in the world?
  • What risks is the problem gambler exposed to?
  • How can a worker help someone gain more control over their gambling?

** Ian Goodhardt holds Masters degrees in Counselling and Conflict resolution.  He has worked in family law mediation for over ten years. Ian  is an accredited Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor and  has been teaching this course since 2006.
