Training Options
CHIA Vic is committed to improving the capacity of the community housing sector in Victoria by providing regular training and professional development courses on topics as diverse as defusing aggression and dealing with difficult calls through to understanding the Residential Tenancies Act.
We also create bespoke training courses to meet identified industry needs or the needs of individual workplaces. Our experienced trainers can deliver courses on-site or at our training facility in the CBD. If you would like to request a new training program, contact Holly Mullaney on 9654 6077.

Induction program for workers new to the sector
Designed to be undertaken by staff within the first six months of starting work in the housing sector.
Participants must complete three highly-recommended units and least four elective units over a six-month period.

CHIA Vic is developing a training program for staff moving into asset management roles.

Board member program
CHIA Vic runs courses that have been designed specifically for current or prospective board members, such as Understanding the Big Picture of Social Housing, Asset Management for Board Members and Financial Training for non-Financial people.

You must agree to this policy to purchase tickets: Refunds will be processed less a $5 administration fee until three days before the scheduled event. After this date, no refunds will be provided. We welcome alternative attendees and encourage you to send another person in your place if you are no longer able to attend.
Looking for a university qualification in housing?
In Victoria, Swinburne University offers the only two university-level housing qualifications. Both can be completed anywhere in Australia and New Zealand through distance learning and are recognised by the Australasian Housing Institute. The NSW Federation of Housing Associations also offers a Certificate IV level qualification.
